Napoleon: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

You are invited to join us for an enlightening presentation on Napoleon by Dr. Lucy Morros, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Alliance Française de St. Louis.

One of the most celebrated and controversial political figures in history, Napoleon Bonaparte's leadership changed the course of history.

  • The Good? The Code Napoleon modernized the French legal system, the central bank, and the educational system.

  • The Bad? His misogyny limited women's education and social roles and prevented their significant contributions.

  • The Ugly? A racist colonizer, warmonger, and enslaver, Napoleon came to power in a coup.

The presentation will take place at the Alliance Française de St. Louis on May 20, 2022 at 7:00 PM. Attendance is free and open to members of the Alliance Française de St. Louis and first-time non-members.
